What should I know about fragrance notes?Updated 10 days ago

Each Miller Harris fragrance tells its story in three distinct stages - head, heart, and lasting impression notes - that unfold throughout the day. These notes combine to create a beautiful and unique olfactory experience.

Head Notes: The Opening Impression

The top notes are what you first smell when you apply a fragrance. These notes are often light, fresh, and fleeting, meant to create an immediate, captivating impression. They usually consist of citrus, fruits, herbs, or aromatic florals.

Heart Notes: The Core of the Fragrance

As the top notes fade, the heart notes emerge, making up the true essence of the fragrance. These middle notes define the fragrance’s character and tend to last longer than the top notes. Often floral, fruity, or spicy, the heart notes create balance and depth.

Base Notes: The Lasting Impression

The base notes are the foundation of the fragrance. They are the notes that linger on your skin, leaving a long-lasting trail. These notes provide richness, warmth, and depth to the fragrance, and help anchor the lighter top and heart notes. Base notes tend to be more earthy and woody, or even sweet and resinous.

By understanding how fragrance notes interact, you can better appreciate the complexity and depth of our perfumes, discovering new layers as they unfold.
